Just a little TLC.

What is this thing that I have for "old stuff"? Why all the excitement when I find something that "had a life"? Is it sympathy or empathy or what? I believe that it is that I know the life is still there ~~~ somewhere~~~. Somewhere hiding, somewhere waitng for another chance to shine.

This is a picture of a wooden tray that I purchased at a thrift shop for $1 a few weeks ago. I was in the process of painting a table this beautiful icy teal. Since I had the roller going I decided to paint the tray also. After it had dried I drew designs on it with sharpie markers. After that I used urethane in satan to protect it. This tray was an anniversary momento for someone in the 1960's. It had their names hand painted on it on the back. I think it is so cool to know it has a good history.

It was a good find when I ran across this little table and chair set in solid oak. It was all scruffed up and just needed a good washing and a little gluing to prepare it for  a new life ( I only wish I had bought all 4 chairs). A few years ago I painted a large mural on a wall by our front door and these colors were on the shelf just waiting to be used again. I have trimmed the chairs with yet another color, a sunshine yellow( you will see it later). I am going to be painting little bugs and things like that on the table top and will be showing that in a future blog.

Today is the day for "icy teal". Well when you have a gallon of it what can you do? This vintage desk had such nice pulls that I only had to wash them up and use them over again. The chair was $10 at an estate sale. I didn't get them at the same time and I was so  happy that the chair actually fit in the desk.

I have many " artsy" ideas and hints to share with my readers. I started this blog to help us all " break out of the box" and maybe do things we never thought we could do pertaining to art and giving some old treasures a new life!  And yes, there is nothing in here about a lamp but soon I will have that ready to share.
